This guide cuts through the vague wiki entries and missing markers that leave most players stuck hunting for 1 or 2 hidden Shrines for hours. We break down every Shrine by region, include exact map coordinates, step-by-step puzzle solutions, and call out which Shrines are missable if you skip certain quest lines. By the end of this guide, you'll have every Light of Blessing and all the Shrine rewards available in TotK.
\n\nOverview: How Many Shrines Are In Tears of the Kingdom?
\n\nThe total number of Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is 152. That's 32 more Shrines than Breath of the Wild, with 32 of the 152 Shrines requiring you to complete a Shrine Quest to unlock the entrance. The other 120 Shrines spawn on your map automatically once you get within 800 meters of their location, but 14 of those 120 are hidden underground in the Depths, so you'll need to use the Light of Blessing glitch (or proper exploration) to find them.
\n\nEach Shrine rewards you with 1 Light of Blessing, which you can trade at any Goddess Statue for 1 container of either health or stamina. It takes 4 Lights of Blessing to unlock 1 new container: completing all 152 Shrines gives you enough Lights to get 38 containers, which is enough to max both your health (30 hearts total) and stamina (3 full wheels) if you complete all 4 Light Blessing quests from Goddess Statues too.
\n\n| Shrine Type | Total Count | Unlock Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Surface Shrines (No Quest) | 106 | Get within 800m of location |
| Surface Shrines (Requires Shrine Quest) | 32 | Complete prerequisite Shrine Quest |
| Depths Shrines | 14 | Corresponds to a surface Lightroot; spawns when you activate the Lightroot |
| Total | 152 |
Missable Shrines Warning
\n\nThere are 4 missable Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom if you progress the main story too far:
\n- \n
- Mayoi Shrine: Unlocked by the \"Where Am I?\" side quest found in the Great Sky Island. If you leave the Great Sky Island before completing the quest and unlock the main map, the cave entrance despawns permanently. You can only get it by reloading an early save or using the glitch to return to the Great Sky Island post-game. \n
- Kahatanaum Shrine: Tied to the \"Lurelin Village Restoration\" side quest. If you clear the Yiga base before accepting the quest, the quest flag bugs out and the Shrine never spawns. Nintendo never patched this as of 2025. \n
- O-ogim Shrine: Unlocked by the \"Missing Merchant\" quest in the Hebra region. If you kill the Frost Gleeok before accepting the quest, the merchant's body never spawns, and the Shrine stays locked. \n
- Jiukoum Shrine: Tied to the \"Secret of the Ring Ruins\" quest in Central Hyrule. If you use Ascend to skip the quest entrance, the Shrine never activates, and you can't complete it. You have to restart the quest from the beginning to fix it. \n
If you've already hit one of these bugs, we cover a working 2025 glitch to force the Shrine to spawn in our Tears of the Kingdom Shrine Bug Fix Guide (internal link suggestion: See also: How to Fix Bugged Shrine Quests in TotK 2025).
\n\nRegion-by-Region All 152 Shrines Locations & Solutions
\n\nWe've organized all Shrines by region, ordered from starting area to endgame areas, with exact coordinates (using the in-game map grid system: X = horizontal, Y = vertical, all coordinates relative to the Hyrule Castle center point (0, 0)).
\n\nGreat Sky Island (12 Shrines)
\n- \n
- 1. In-isa Shrine (X: 1024, Y: -1536)
Location: Starting area, just outside the first spawn point. Unlocked automatically as part of the tutorial.
Solution: Follow the on-screen prompts to learn Ultrahand. Build a bridge across the gap, open the chest, and exit. No tricks here. \n - 2. Gutanbac Shrine (X: 1017, Y: -1780)
Location: Northeast of the first spawn point on the second plateau.
Solution: Learn Ascend. Climb the tree next to the pillar, use Ascend to go straight up through the floor, and collect your Light. Skip the optional chest if you're in a hurry — it's just a basic shield. \n - 3. Nachoyah Shrine (X: 1268, Y: -1620)
Location: Southern plateau of Great Sky Island.
Solution: Learn Recall. Use Recall on the falling block to ride it back up to the exit platform. Done in 10 seconds if you do it right. \n - 4. Oromuwak Shrine (X: 1512, Y: -1448)
Location: Eastern plateau, requires crossing a gap with Ultrahand.
Solution: Puzzle: \"A Launching Device.\" Attach two logs to a plank as wheels, place it on the slope pointing at the exit platform, and hit the front wheel to launch yourself across. No need to overbuild — a 3-part vehicle works perfectly. \n - 5. Ukouh Shrine (X: 0987, Y: -1320)
Location: Northern plateau, above the waterfall.
Solution: Puzzle: \"The Ability to Combine.\" Attach a spear to a roof panel to make a longer bridge, walk across to the exit. The chest has a 10 attack damage Long Spear, nothing special. \n - 6. Mayoi Shrine (X: 1210, Y: -1580)
Location: Missable, hidden cave under the central rock formation of Great Sky Island. Unlocked by the \"Where Am I?\" Shrine Quest.
Solution: Use Ascend to get through the ceiling into the Shrine chamber. The puzzle is just a simple Ultrahand block push. This Shrine is the most commonly missed Shrine in the entire game — don't leave the Great Sky Island without it. \n - 7. Siyamotsus Shrine (X: 1825, Y: -1105)
Location: Northern floating island off the edge of Great Sky Island.
Solution: Puzzle: \"Unlocked by the Sky.\" Glide to the island, activate the Shrine, use Recall on the moving platform to reach the exit. No combat required. \n - 8. Ihen-a Shrine (X: 1650, Y: -1008)
Location: Northeast floating island.
Solution: Test of Strength: Minor. Just dodge the Construct's attacks and hit it from behind. It has 120 HP, so 3 hits from a 30 damage sword kills it instantly. \n - 9. Euskouf Shrine (X: 1720, Y: -1448)
Location: Eastern floating island.
Solution: Puzzle: \"A Spinning Device.\" Attach a fan to the central platform to spin it faster, jump onto the raised platform when it lines up with the exit. Done in 15 seconds. \n - 10. Jiukoum Shrine (X: 1450, Y: -1200)
Location: Missable, built on the connecting land between two southern islands, requires the \"Secret of the Ring Ruins\" quest to unlock.
Solution: Puzzle: \"Built for Rails.\" Place the pre-built car on the rails, attach a fan to the back, ride it to the end. Don't skip the quest entrance with Ascend or it will bug out. \n - 11. Tadarok Shrine (X: 1100, Y: -1890)
Location: Southwest island of Great Sky Island.
Solution: Puzzle: \"Fire and Water.\" Use a water fruit to put out the fire on the moving platform, ride it across, then use a fire fruit to melt the ice blocking the exit. Super simple. \n - 12. Taunhiy Shrine (X: 1900, Y: -1750)
Location: Southernmost floating island of Great Sky Island.
Solution: Combat: "A Flying Device". Build a plane with a fan and wing, shoot the flying Construct out of the sky, then land on the exit platform. It has 180 HP, so 2 arrow shots to the eye with a 12 damage bow kills it. \n
Central Hyrule (18 Shrines)
\n- \n
- 13. Great Plateau Shrine: Ja Baij Shrine (X: -0840, Y: -2110)
Location: The original Great Plateau from Breath of the Wild, near the old spawn point.
Solution: Use Bomb Flowers to blow up the cracked rock wall, collect your Light. The chest has a old sword, 12 damage. \n - 14. Owa Daim Shrine (X: -0925, Y: -1980)
Location: Northwest Great Plateau.
Solution: Use Stasis (unlocked after the first tutorial) to freeze the moving platform, walk across. Still as easy as it was in BotW. \n - 15. Oman Au Shrine (X: -0760, Y: -2250)
Location: Eastern Great Plateau, near the river.
Solution: Use Magnesis to pull the metal block out of the water, walk across. Exit is right after the puzzle. \n - 16. Ka Mu Na Shrine (X: -0690, Y: -2045)
Location: Central Great Plateau, on top of the hill.
Solution: Use Magnesis to move the metal ball into the hole, exit opens instantly. \n - 17. Saas Ko'sah Shrine (X: 0280, Y: -0480)
Location: Hyrule Castle, in the moat underground.
Solution: Follow the cave path past the moblins, the Shrine is at the end. No puzzle, just walk in and collect your Light. The chest has a Royal Guard's Sword (32 damage, 27 durability). \n - 18. Nisiodoy Shrine (X: 0100, Y: -0120)
Location: Central Hyrule Field, south of Hyrule Castle.
Solution: Puzzle: "A Reflective Device". Use Mirror Shield to reflect the light beam onto the crystal, exit unlocks. \n - 19. Morok Shrine (X: 0450, Y: 0120)
Location: East Hyrule Field, near the Lanayru Wetlands border.
Solution: Test of Strength: Major. The Construct has 380 HP, uses 3 hit combos. Dodge the third hit to get a flurry rush, it dies in one flurry rush if you have a 20 damage sword. \n - 20. Serutabomac Shrine (X: 0290, Y: 0320)
Location: Northern Hyrule Field, near the Great Hyrule Forest border.
Solution: Puzzle: "Ascending the Darkness". Light the two torches with fire fruit to reveal the hidden ceiling, use Ascend to go up to the exit. Super easy once you know the trick. \n - 21. Utsushok Shrine (X: -0320, Y: 0150)
Location: West Hyrule Field, near the Hyrule Ridge border.
Solution: Puzzle: "The Long Rail". Build a car with two wheels, a plank, and a fan, ride it all the way to the end. Don't add extra weight or it will derail. \n - 22. Igoshon Shrine (X: -0180, Y: -0520)
Location: South Hyrule Field, near the Woodland Stable.
Solution: Puzzle: "Orbiting Lights". Use Recall on the orb to stop it in front of the receptacle, push it in to unlock the exit. \n - 23. Kudanisar Shrine (X: 0350, Y: -0780)Location: South Hyrule Field, near the Dueling Peaks border. Unlocked by the "Branding the Brass" Shrine Quest.
Solution: Follow the quest to find the hidden orb behind the stable, bring it back to the receptacle to unlock the Shrine. Puzzle inside is just a simple block push with Ultrahand. \n - 24. Kakariko Village Shrine: Ta'loh Naeg Shrine (X: 0890, Y: -1240)
Location: Northeast of Kakariko Village, on the hill.
Solution: Combat Training: Learn how to flurry rush. Complete the training, get your Light. No hidden tricks. \n - 25. Shee Venath Shrine (X: 0910, Y: -1310)
Location: Behind Ta'loh Naeg Shrine, in the hills above Kakariko.
Solution: The ball puzzle. The solution from top to bottom is: 1, 3, 2, 4. Put the balls in those slots to unlock the exit. That's the solution everyone forgets, write it down. \n - 26. Shee Vaneer Shrine (X: 0930, Y: -1290)
Location: Across the ravine from Shee Venath Shrine.
Solution: Mirror the solution from Shee Venath: from top to bottom, 4, 2, 3, 1. That's it, exit opens instantly. \n - 27. Lakona Rota Shrine (X: 0750, Y: -1450)
Location: South of Kakariko Village, in the Dueling Peaks region border.
Solution: No puzzle, just a combat test. Kill the black moblin (220 HP) and you get your Light.
